Storybook Dolls!

Well it's out.  Prims 2012 Autumn issue is OUT  and our MAIDA Storybook Challenge Dolls are IN.  :~)  Watching the challenge develop on the MAIDA site over several months was a treat--seeing each doll in pictures as the artists finished.  Since the challenge ended quite a while back, it was an even better treat to see them all in a group shot in this issue!

I made an Izannah Walker version of Cinderella (upper right).  (Click on photo to enlarge.)

They really didn't figure out how to put her head rag on, despite the fact that I sewed it "tied" and sent a photo of her wearing it...nor did they have room for her broom with its birdie perched on top. Now that they've taken their pictures, she'll be on her way home.  I hope her wee mousie friends behaved themselves.

Poor Cinderella has no tailor.
The next MAIDA challenge is Topsy Turvy Dolls, which I will enjoy watching but don't have time to play in right now.  Hope your Thor's Day is a luvelly one!

  1. Love your Cinders, the challenge was fun. Our dolls are perched together in the back row becoming friends! (or causing trouble!) I am working on a topsy-turvy sawdust doll, gee that stuff gets everywhere!

    1. It might get everywhere, but it smells so GOOD! I can't decide if I want to use it to stuff dolls or just roll around in it! :~)

  2. Jan, she is fantastic, I really love her features and the painting is perfection. The mouse on her head wrap is adorable. Great job!

    1. Thank you Judi. She was one of the first of this last group that seemed to edge closer to the "Izzy" face. The mice were so fun to make!

  4. Jan... well done! Your Cinderella is so well crafted and not only "painted to perfection" (as Judi noted) but also "consumed to perfection" as well. Congrats! Daryle

  5. "With broom and birdie" is an awesome picture of this doll...so proud of her and her friends who made the pic in Prims. I broke down and ordered a copy...just couldn't stand not having one. Thanks for the visit over my way. The dolls were fun, and so was the rain. Are you back to watering plants again?

    1. Oh yeah...I'm out there in the mornings on average from 7:00 am til 9:00 or 9:30 at least three days a week just to keep stuff alive. We don't water our yard, but the flower beds, fruit trees and herb/veggie gardens cover some considerable territory.
