The Zodiac Babies pattern was a wild hair (hare?) and it seems to have worked out. I will make a few changes to later iterations of it, but I like their general proportions. I had so much fun making their dolls and toys--crayons, a butterfly net, dolls & cats & frogs. That's where I get to get silly and invent things.
For now...here's a really photo heavy post and my apologies in advance for not being attentive to the Blogosphere lately (or in the near future).

I love your dolls, they have a beautiful whimsical look to them and their little costumes are so cute. Hope you and the dolls have a great time at the doll show.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ruby. I lucked into an estate sale for a retired quilter, and found a lot of small pieces of fabric I'd never have bought otherwise--wouldn't have occurred to me. They were the inspiration for much of the "whimsy" you see in these dolls. :)
DeleteI can see why you are worn out. So much work. all the dolls are just so pretty and the costumes just right for each one. I don't know how you made so many and each one so different and with such personality. I am glad you had fun, It shows. You will do great at the doll show and have a great time.

DeleteHello! Your African American dolls have an unusual expression which seem to appear as if longing for something. I have seen children at a toy store, FAO Schwarz, or Walmart with such facial expressions.

Thank you Annette. The girl with crayons (her name is Rainbow Jones) is an artist, so I imagine her expression as the dazed, thousand-yard stare of someone in the grip of creative inspiration. I can relate! :D

ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary. As a dollmaker, you know what it is to hear that your dolls bring enjoyment to someone...the creativity is wonderful, but without the other side of it--others' enjoyment--it might not be nearly as much fun. :)
