Escrow

We are officially in escrow on a little piece of land in Lakeside, Arizona.  We'll close right before the first hip surgery (had to reschedule a bit), and we're going to talk to builders this weekend.

The place is so quiet and peaceful.  Only five lots in this little section surrounded by woods--the land in front of ours is national forest.  The lot north of us is the volunteer fire department, which in arid climate pines is a good, good thing.

Ponderosa and pinyon pines, alligator juniper, Gambel oak.  A few native yucca.  Deer, elk, and quail.  I've read from the forest services that there are also bear and mountain lions, but maybe not where we are.  It's remote-feeling, especially since we're the first to buy and will likely be the first to build among the four remaining lots, but actually only 15 minutes to town, same as we are here on our little postage stamp of golf-course land.

The plan is to get the surgeries done & over, then start putting this house to rights in order to list in April.  Maybe by summer, we'll be out there, living in a travel trailer on the lot while a new house is built?

Sometimes Escrow is not such a scary word.

  1. How wonderful. I am so glad for you and Phil. It is nice to have something so great to look forward to. You will have time to pick out the perfect house plans. There is no substitution for peace and quiet. We are going to be moving soon too, back to our house 5 minutes away on the lake. It has lots of people there, but still peaceful. I hope you will find time to maybe consider returning to doll making in the future, I so enjoyed seeing your dolls being made. Best wishes on getting the surgeries over with and getting back to being active and doing the things you want and need to do.

    1. Thank you--for the good wishes and the kind words about the dolls. I might someday do cloth dolls, but it'll be a different direction with them if I do. I got tired of putting so much work into them and not finding them homes. Congrats on your move back to the lake!

  2. Your new soon-to-be-home sounds like my kind of place. Hopefully, there will be trails to walk there where "people" like Millie and me can come along, if only in spirit. I know you will be planning well every nook and cranny of your new home. I do look forward to seeing it. I hope all goes well with the surgeries so you can get on with all your wonderful plans. Take care!

    1. Thank you, Mary. We got a map of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest (we're smack in the middle of it) and there are trails EVERYWHERE! I'm sure I'll find you and Millie in there somewhere.

  3. This sounds very inviting with the wooded lot and all the wild life you'll be surrounded by. My kind of place. Wishing you well during and after your hip replacements. Take care.

    1. Thank you, Bethann. I'm lucky that they will only be hip repairs, instead of replacements. We just got back from seeing the lot again, talking with builders. It's so beautiful out there.
