Rag dolls...

On my way to meet a lady for lunch.  She commissioned these rag dolls--the ones I had so much trouble dressing.  They didn't misbehave or anything, (ha!) but she wanted me to use baby dresses that she and her sisters had worn, and those sweet delicate things were hard to cut into.

But I got them done, and I think they turned out well.  I was supposed to make little bonnets out of the sleeves, but there just wasn't enough fabric to make a proper bonnet.

The black doll was easy to dress--she got her own fabric and all, of course.

Hope your weekend is lovely!

  1. These three commissioned rag dolls are lovely. The dolls dressing are simply amazing. What talent you have to cut and sew children's dresses for the dolls. Each dress bodice is gorgeous. Love the wavy doll hair too!

Oh yes, the black doll is also very sweet...I see she received a bonnet!

  2. I think you did a great job on the dolls and their clothes. I don't do to many commissions, but you were right to go ahead and tackle this job. Aren't you glad you did. the lady will be happy with these dolls. Sometimes people want alot and some of it is hard to do, but she was right to pick you for this. those little gowns are very delicate and it is hard to make that first cut into them or start unstitching them and taking them apart. I have, but it is so much work. the black doll is pretty too and so are her clothes. You can rest now and move onto other things, I know you are glad. My hat is off to any one undertaking a hard job and sticking with it until the end. Hope to see some other dolls and toys from you pretty soon.
