I have neglected the blog. I would apologize, but that would solve nothing. So without further adieu, some photos of the doll show. The site was terrific--the Four Points Sheraton--and the hubs and I treated it like a mini-vacation, staying overnight. We felt positively wicked leaving the pets with the in-laws and running off kidless.
My set up still needs tweaking, which it likely will need until I'm dead in the ground. A forever work in progress, I guess, because even after four years of doll shows, I still can't leave well enough alone.
The show itself was not as well-attended as I might have wished, but all
in all, it was a good time and I felt the time was well spent. I met some great new people, and had a good visit with like-minded people. (And the husband watched lots of golf on the lobby TV. :~) )
Glad you and the hubs had a good time. The set up looks great Jan and the dolls are lovely! I've neglected my blog too. Finally had the surgery so hopefully I'll be able to sew again.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad for you! The world is not the same without your creativity at work.
DeleteEverything is well placed and all the dolls look so pretty. I just now noticed the cats in the basket. So cute. I know you and your husband had a good time. Glad to read about the doll show. Alot of people are not posting right now, but we are coming into summer and vacations, so forth. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed reading about the doll show.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha. When I am at the ironing board cutting out fabric for dolls (parts, dresses, whatever) I always have scraps that I use for birds (to give away to little kids) and cats. I had people ask this show why I didn't have any dogs...so...maybe some dogs are coming up. :~D
DeleteJan... What a nice representation of your work... Seeing your set-up for the show "nudges" me a little bit; I've been asked to be a part of a show this late spring at an open-air street festival. It's been ten+ years since we've been in a show... so I'm a bit reticent.
ReplyDeleteDo it! You will love the experience even more now...the people watching is excellent. :~)

ReplyDeleteJan your dolls are just sooooo incredible. I see so many I would love to buy. Your display was/is just perfect. My goodness your so very talented! Hope this finds you doing good. Sounds like you and your hubby had a blast. This is some thing me and my hubby need to get away, Even with out our two 4 legged kids and two legged kids :)

We were shocked at how giddy we felt at running off without our dog-kid. That sounds awful, but he is like a kid to us, and we had not been "kidless" for ten years! :~) Take the time to get out, just you and the hubs. It is restorative.
DeleteI can't but help wonder how many total hours you have invested in the creating of these oh-so-wonderful dolls. What fun I have had zooming in and taking a closer look! :~) How talented you are!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary. :~) It is a business, but so much of it is for the love of doing it that it just doesn't pay to look at the hours too closely!
DeleteBeautiful, beautiful. Wow what a nice selection of dolls and your display looks great. I had no idea you made frog and rabbits too.
ReplyDeleteI make all kinds of things...once made a doll out of a wire whisk. Still hangs in my kitchen. :~)
DeleteI love your dolls! The table looked amazing to me! I wish I could have been there.
